WhatsApp has been lately introducing many new features including Live Location, Delete for Everyone, and more. WhatsApp is currently testing and about to introduce another new feature called “Restricted Groups“. This feature will give more power and control to the group admins. As indicated by a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has already integrated the “Restricted Groups” setting in the version 2.17.430 through Google Play Beta program.
Basically, this new feature guarantees to give the group admin more power for group chats. The report said that the group admin is allowed to confine or restrict any member of the group from sending photos, text messages, voice messages, or GIFs.
Once confined or restricted, you can utilize the button “Message Admin” for sending messages to the group. You will have the option to send messages to the group admin, who will eventually choose whether it will be seen by the group members from the group or dismiss totally.
The “Restricted Groups” feature can be enabled by anybody with the admin rights of the group. The settings can be modified every 72 hours, which means group members can be restricted or hushed for a couple of hours at a time.
