Top 5 Most Polluted Countries In The World

In this post, we will talk about the top 5 most polluted countries in the world. Air pollution is a global issue that is rising at a rapid rate and getting more and more dangerous for people and animals. Even though the world is desperately trying to fight against it there are many countries where it’s still very difficult to figure out an effective way to fight pollution. You will be shocked to know that the most polluted countries in the world are the ones who are well-developed.

These countries are trying many ways to reduce pollution. But, at the same time, they are seeing substantial growth in the number of factories, industries, vehicles, agricultural activities, construction projects, etc. So, these things are making it very difficult for these countries to fight pollution.

Let us discuss 5 of the most polluted country in the world.

  1. China

Obviously, China ranks first as the most polluted country in the world, because it’s well-known that its major cities have a lot of issues with air pollution. The fog barrier in Pekin is an image that makes everybody not living there extremely happy but at the same time really worried about the outcomes of air pollution. Nevertheless, China is prepared and is already taking different ecological measures to reduce the pollution caused by its industry. They have very innovative and serious strategies for 2020 and 2050 that challenge them into becoming less damaging and much more eco-friendly.

  1. USA

Shockingly, the USA is only second in this list but I doubt this will stay like that if it continues to deny the existence of climate change. According to global carbon atlas, the USA emits CO2 in the range of about 5,312 million tones. The country still hasn’t ratified the Kyoto Protocol which commits countries from all over the world to reduce their carbon emissions. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem it will get better soon.

  1. India

India is understandably on the list because this is the country with the 2nd highest population in the world, which logically results in a lot of pollution. In 2019, 14 out of 15 most polluted cities are in India according to the World Health Organization. Since 1981, India has a law for air quality protection, but due to the substantial growth in the burning of fossil fuels, many cities in this country are polluted.

  1. Russia

Russia is the largest country when it comes to territory. Thanks to its positioning it is very rich in fuels, coal, gas, and oil. In reality, this is its main industry which allows its development and progress. Unfortunately, those are also the biggest air pollutants in the world and Russia is one of the main resources. The country signed the first part of the Kyoto protocol but didn’t take part in the second one and has no targets for limiting its emissions or becoming less damaging for the environment. Also, in recent years there have been high levels of deforestation and animal hunting.

  1. Japan

Japan is the world’s largest fossil fuel consumer. Due to its extremely quick urban and economic development the country is literally living off fossil fuel. As a result, it’s also one of the world’s biggest carbon emitters responsible for about 4% of all carbon emissions. Surprisingly, Japanese people are not really concerned about it and there are rarely even warnings about this kind of issue. Another curious thing is that the Kyoto protocol is signed in Japan and the trading schemes there are implemented since 2010.

Conclusion:

So, these are some of the most polluted countries in the world. I think, somehow the drastic development in every business sector is contributing to the pollution these countries have. And all these countries are trying pretty hard to avoid this problem, and let hope they will be able to achieve slowly. One step at a time.
