Paint.NET is a free image editor as well as viewer. You can use it to increase the size of an image from original to larger without losing quality. First, download this software and install it. Start the program and open the desired image with it. You can press “Ctrl + R” from your keyboard or use Resize from Image menu. You can choose the “By percentage” method and from the Resampling drop-down menu, choose any of the available option: Best Quality, Bicubic, Bilinear, or Nearest Neighbor.

You can then save the resized image in the same format or in a different format it supports, for example, BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, TGA, and others.

Moo0 ImageSizer:

Moo0 ImageSizer is another software which lets you increase the size of an image by keeping same Width/Height ratio. Just download and install this software on your PC. It asks you to install other programs at the beginning of installation and you can avoid these by unchecking the respective checkbox. After installing you can start resizing images by doing the following changes:

First, click Advanced Options and then on the size section, you can choose the “By Percent (%)” method. In the Width and Height fields, type the desired percentage value. Now “Keep Original Ratio” must be checked to maintain the aspect ratio.

You can then drag and drop an image file(s) over its “Drop Box” area and it will start converting your file(s) in the same folder where the original file exists. You can use this software to batch resize multiple files at once. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP. The program works very fast and all the output files will be auto renamed as per “original file name + new dimension values“.

PIXresizer:

PIXresizer is a free software which lets you resize images and stretch them to increase their size. There are two tabs on its main interface; “Work with one file” and “Work with multiple files”. You can choose any of them. In the case of “Work with one file”, you have to choose the input file first. Click Load Picture and click custom size. Now change to new size by multiplying the original size or type the new size in Width box, the value in height box will automatically change according to the corresponding ratio.

For this, you must have to check the Maintain aspect ratio button. You can change the format or choose the “Same as original” as per your requirement. Supported output formats are BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, and TIFF.

Click Save Picture to save the output in the desired location.

IrfanView:

IrfanView is a free graphic viewer as well as editor. You can use it to resize or increase the sizes of images. After installing the IrfanView, you can open any image file with it. To stretch or resize any image you have to click Resize/Resample from the Image menu or can directly press “Ctrl + R” command from your keyboard. A new dialog box will open. Here you can change the size according to percentage or value of the width. The height value will be automatically calculated if you checked the “Preserve aspect ratio (proportional)” button.

You can also change the DPI of the output image from the DPI box. You can click OK and save the file with the same extension or file type. Also, you can change the format if required while saving by clicking the “Save As” command and choose the desired format from “File Type“.

Image Resizer:

Image Resizer is a simple and lightweight software which lets you increase the size of images by adding them to its list. You can use this software to resize an image from small to large. First, add the image file by clicking the “+” green button on its main interface. Now type the maximum size in pixels for width or height for your output image. Click the Resize icon (Large button at bottom right corner) to start the conversion process. It asks you for output location. Choose the desired location and click Save button to save the resized file in the selected location.

This program also supports batch resizing for selected files. In this case, if all of your input files have the same height and/or same width, then it is useful to convert them in one go.
