Always Download The Latest Software Updates

It is highly recommended to download the latest software updates that help you to secure your machine from cyber threats.

Enable Your Firewall

Enabling a firewall creates a wall between your computer and unauthorized program that attempts to enter through the Internet. So, whenever you’re using a Wi-Fi network, it is suggested to avoid the untrusted sources, especially at public places. Usually, a firewall is enabled by default in both Mac and Windows. Moreover, you can always check the status of the firewall in a computer by performing a few steps and make required changes accordingly.

For Mac: Apple icon > System preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall.

Frequently Change Your Passwords

Sometimes, when you do not change your password for a long duration or keep the same password for everything, then hackers might be able to access your device easily. You can keep a strong password with a combination of alpha-numeric characters, which is complicated to guess by attackers. Do not use a simple password like 12345.  Make sure you regularly change your passwords to avoid malware attacks and other threats.

Do Not Use Pirated Software

Malware, ransomware attackers use the most common ways to make you install their infected software on your devices. You can always take precautions and make sure you are protected from such tempting threats.

It is recommended to download and install from trusted sources. Android users can use Google Play Store and Apple users can rely on App Store but make sure you do not download and install any software from malicious websites. Often when you browse to buy a software and you find buying it cheap on an un-official website, you fall for it.  This is a cheap trick often used by hackers to allure into the honey trap.

Use Antivirus and Antimalware Software

Using antivirus & antimalware software can certainly safeguard your machine from untrusted apps and tools. Sometimes when you download the program from untrusted sites, it might come with some of keyloggers and viruses, which might affect the performance of your computer or modify some of the settings. You can download ransomware protection tools to get the job done for you.

Enable Parental Control

Kids have a habit of opening all the colorful things they see online. If you have a teenage child than surely it is important to set a parental control to protect them from an online scan and getting in unnecessarily troubles.  Moreover, kids easily trust and allow any stranger to get into your computer. They might download apps from untrusted websites that might also infect your computer. In order to prevent such incidents, you can create a guest account and block not required or harmful websites.

Do Not Click on Malicious Pop-Ups

Sometimes you might receive a pop up on your screen, it could be tech support to fix your computer or some warning. Clicking on it might install some potential threat. So, you can get rid of it using task manager or pressing Alt + F4.  Moreover, you might receive emails such as pop up message or ads, opening such random emails can also lead you to get attacked by malware and spyware.
