How to Enable Do Not Disturb Mode in Slack

Slack is one of the popular team chat applications which you can get now in the market. The enterprise communication platform is not just limited to text messaging but includes much more features like screen sharing, video chat, file sharing, and so forth. Many people in small as well as large businesses use Slack for communication purposes among teams. So, if you also use Slack, then you already know that it has “Notification” feature that will notify you of messages, calls, etc. But, if you’re busy sometimes and don’t want to get disturbed from Slack notifications, then there is a simple solution to get rid of that.

Slack has an inbuilt feature called “Do Not Disturb” which can allow you to stop notifications. Not just notifications, it even doesn’t allow other Slack users to call you via video calling or audio calling. In this post, we will see how to enable “Do Not Disturb” mode in Slack.

How to Enable Do Not Disturb Mode in Slack?

Step 1: Open Slack and access your account by logging in. Now, click on the “Bell” icon which is visible on the right side of your team name at the top.

Step 2: After clicking the Bell icon, a menu will open with some predefined snooze times that you can choose for muting the notifications and enabling Do Not Disturb mode in Slack. The available times are 20 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, and 24 hours. Selecting any of the times will activate the Do Not Disturb mode.

Step 3: If you don’t want to choose the predefined times, then you can set a custom time for the Do Not Disturb mode. For doing that, you have to click on the “Do Not Disturb Schedule” option from the menu. Afterwards, you can choose a time interval at which the “Do Not Disturb” mode will be activated automatically.

Step 4: That’s all, you can either select a predefined time or set a custom time for enabling the Do Not Disturb mode in Slack. No notifications will be shown to you for messages, chat requests, and even for video or audio calls.

You can also turn off the Do Not Disturb mode in between by clicking on the Bell icon and selecting the “Turn OFF” option. It also gives you an option to adjust the time for the mode if you want.
