How to Add Security Questions to Lock Screen in Windows 10

A few months back Microsoft added a new feature in Windows 10 that made it possible to reset Microsoft Account password from the lock screen. But, recently they have added another feature that lets you reset local account password as well from the lock screen. This feature is called “Security Questions”. Presently, this feature is only available to the Insiders (those using preview build 17063) but will be rolled out to the public soon.

This feature can be very helpful in the situation when you forget your password for the local account and want to reset it from the lock screen. Using this feature is very simple. You can choose 3 security questions for the account and when you choose the reset password option on the lock screen, you can use the questions reset it. So, in this article, I will show you how to add Security Questions to the lock screen in Windows 10.

How to Add Security Questions to Lock Screen in Windows 10?

Step 1: To begin, open Windows Settings by clicking the Start Menu or press Windows Key + I. Then navigate to “Accounts” and click on it to open the settings.

Step 2: After doing that, select the “Sign-in Option” on the left pane. Then click on the “Update your Security Questions” option just below the “Password” option.

Step 3: Now, you will see the options to create security questions. Before that, it will prompt you to enter your local account password so that you can proceed. You can choose from different pre-listed questions and enter your answer accordingly.

Remember not to select the same question for multiple fields and do complete all the questions to make this feature work.

Step 4: That’s all. Now, the Security Questions will be added to the lock screen in Windows 10. To verify it, lock your computer and enter any wrong password. Then select the “Reset Password” option. Now, you will see the security questions and you can enter correct answers to reset the password directly from the lock screen.
